Matt Price of Fayetteville, Ga., landed a 21.8-pound red snapper (above) while fishing aboard The Phoenix. Price became the overall leader in the category.

Earlier, a 20.2-pound barracuda won Michael Pierce, an angler from Huntington Beach, Calif., first place in his division. He was fishing aboard The Sarge.

Jenny Carroll from Frankfort, Ky., watched from the bleachers as each fish was weighed.

“It was just out there in the gulf being a fish. Now it’s dead,” she deadpanned. “It’ll be nice on the table, though.”
